Month Three

Can you believe it's that time again? Another month has passed and Emerson is getting so big it's unbelievable. Emerson fills our days with joy, he is such a jolly little fellow! It's such a pleasure to have him. Derek's Granny loves to brag that he never cries and while that's not completely true (he of course has his moments), we are so lucky that the tears are few and far between!

Month 3

Dear Emerson,

You are truly an incredible child. Just when we think you are going to be a "by the book" baby, you surprise us with a new developmental milestone well ahead of schedule. This month you decided that new skill would be rolling over and now that you have mastered that, you are constantly rolling. I guess we should come to expect that you are marching to the beat of your own drummer and start enjoying your accomplishments as they come! We are so proud of you and could care less if we come off as typical overly enthusiastic first time parents, because well... we are!

This month you began eating much more than mommy can produce, so we have introduced organic rice cereal into your diet in hopes that would fill up your growing tummy. We originally attempted to spoon feed you cereal, but you managed to make a huge mess and barley ate anything. It was pretty hilarious how someone so small could make such a big mess! We started putting the cereal in your milk bottles and that has worked out so much better.

Our favorite thing about this month however has been your cooing at Mommy and Daddy. You love to "talk" to us and your sweet little voice is like music to our ears. We talk to you all the time and have since you arrived. We describe what were doing or where were going. We say our prayers out loud and read to you all the time. But now that you have begun responding with your own little words and noises, it's as if you know exactly what we're discussing and that has been so fun for us.

It won't be long before your mumbles turn into words and your rolling over turns into crawling. We feel so lucky to be a part of it all.
