{Pregnancy Part 2} 1st Trimester Faves

Being newly pregnant, whether it's the first or the fifth time is exciting. Whether you've shared the news with the world or are keeping your little a bundle a surprise for now, celebrating your new mama status is a must. I remember going to our first sonogram for Emerson, hearing that incredible heart beat, seeing our little nugget flicker on the screen and being completely in awe. Right after the appointment Derek and I celebrated by picking up a pair of baby Uggs from Nordstrom, our first baby related purchase. Holding those little booties, it all became real. With our second baby on the way, some celebratory shopping was absolutely in order. Mother's Day was days away and it was so fun to indulge in some fun pregnancy purchases! These purchases have quickly become my first trimester favorites.

1st Trimester Faves

With your first pregnancy you are flung into this maternity world full of products and brands you've never heard of. Thousands of "must have" items that you have no clue how to use or if they really even work. Second time around you have your bearings a little bit more. You know your mommy style and what you will get your money's worth from. Here's what I'm loving so far for my first trimester with baby 2.
  • Belli Elasticity Oil & Mustela Stretch Marks Double Action Cream - I'm going to be honest, stretchmarks suck. There is really not much you can do if you're genetically predisposed to them. My first pregnancy I used Palmer's Cocoa butter at the recommendation of nearly everyone ever. It smelt awful and it didn't do anything for me. I also used Burts Bees Mama Bee Oil and while it's fragrance was delightful it was very greasy. As soon as I tested positive I hopped on Amazon and ordered the Belli Oil and Mustela Cream per Veronika's Blushing recommendations. I am so pleased with them both and I really don't have to use a lot of product to feel completely moisturized which makes me feel great about spending a bit more. Also, I don't stink which I'm sure my husband is pretty happy about.
  • My (new!!) Timi & Leslie Diaper Bag - Derek bought me my first Timi & Leslie bag for Christmas before Emerson was born. I have literally used it everyday since. I love the bag, the accessories, the durability. For mother's day I got the Charlie in black and I'm in love with it. I'm really trying to hold off using it until fall, but it's just SO good.
  • Something Stylish - You probably won't need maternity clothes your first trimester, but that doesn't mean it's not fun to buy them! The same day I bought my new lotions and potions, I ran to Zulily and picked up this MOMO Maternity trapeze dress in coral. It's one of those you can dress up or down and will grow with you through your pregnancy. I love this dress for days I'm feeling a little too swollen to wear skinny jeans or shorts.
  • MommiesFirst Subscription - Now this I'm probably MOST excited about. MommiesFirst is a monthly subscription services that sends monthly care packages throughout your pregnancy and into the first year with baby (think Birch Box gone "Bump" Box). I just signed up so I haven't got a box yet, but the concept is just so awesome. Great for second time pregnancies when you most likely have a toddler keeping you too busy to hit the mall for the latest and greatest maternity luxuries.
  • New Snoogle Cover - The first pregnancy gift my husband gave to me was the Snoogle. I love this pillow because it's not huge and intrusive in bed. But after nine + months of sleeping/sweating on it, I needed a new cover for my self tanner stained pillow for this second pregnancy (let's just keep it real shall we?). I'm loving the new taupe color and geo pattern of my Snoogle cover, goes much better with our existing bedding.
  • Julep Nail Polish - I bought this set of Julep polish on Zulily before I was pregnant in hopes I would be soon. It's non-toxic polish that's a bit pricey in my opinion for the size of the bottles, but I got a great deal buying a set like this. The polish works just as well as any of my OPI or Essie polishes and I love all the colors. Pretty sure I'll be rocking the hot pink on my toes all summer long and the deep wine red is going to be perfect for fall. May be I can convince my sister in law to put the glitter on my toes if we end up spending NYE in L&D!
  • May Designs Bump Diary - Simply put, the bump diary is a slim little journal that allows you to log what your eating, how much water your drinking, weight gain, activity level, weekly milestones and goals daily through your entire pregnancy. After a week of writing down my not so lovely eating habits... I had a reality check and started doing better for my baby. Writing it all down works for me as it makes me accountable for every single thing I put in my mouth.
  • Prenatal Pure Barre - Speaking of being healthy for bebe, keeping moving is a must. I'm trying to switch up prenatal yoga with these Pure Barre work outs and I'm really loving it. I definitely feel more energized and I like that the "instructor" on the DVD isn't super obnoxious. Another DVD pregnancy workout I want to try is The Pregnancy Project by Tracy Anderson. Would love any reviews on that if you've tried!
I've got one month left until I'm done with the first trimester and can't wait to see what's in store for the next chapter of this second pregnancy!
