I know that everyone is eagerly awaiting Emerson's party post and I promise it's in the works! Honestly I didn't take one single picture that day, so if I did a party recap it would be a completely photo-less post! I know that sounds crazy... but we hired an incredibly talented photographer and I completely trusted that she would capture all of the details and love on Emerson's special day. So I really allowed Derek and myself to kick back and soak up every second of the sweet little soiree with our fantastic family and friends. It was fantastic, but more on that later... I swear! In the meantime I thought I would touch on a fun topic, play clothes for the little men in your life! Emerson is officially walking which means we are now frequent visitors at the neighborhood playground. I love watching him interact with other children, learning to climb steps and sifting through sand but I have found that it is tough on his clothes. Luckily Emerson received some great pieces from Baby Gap for his bday and they really are holding up well. I am a frequent Baby Gap shopper and have found that while their pieces are slightly higher than say Target, you really get what you pay for.
For those of you that also have little boys, you have likely come to the same realization that I have. Boys clothes are HARD. There is rarely cute stuff available and when you finally DO find something decent it's inevitably sold out in your little guy's size (or am I the only one!?). I get a lot of compliments on how I dress Emerson and I think the primary reason for that is that I keep it simple stupid, haha! Our favorite outfits for play dates, running errands or casual dining out usually consist of easy breezy staple pieces like those above.
Gap's worn in tees are super soft and paired with their fun and preppy knit shorts they can really make for a comfy cute ensemble. We have this outfit and navy Saltwater sandals on the way from one of my favorite online shops, Haute Smocks. I think this will be a great simple combo for a sweltering summer day out. (In fact, we love this set so much we have it in several color combos!)
Of course with the ever changing weather in Texas, a more versatile outfit is also great to have on hand. I love madras anything and this shirt paired with army green trousers and chambray Tom's (super adorable, thank you Auntie Kara!!) makes an easy ensemble for a museum day or any indoor activity where it's a bit cooler.
Do you consider your bambino to be somewhat stylish? What are your favorite sources for play clothes // casual outfits?
Love these clothes. My boys wear pretty similar stuff-- knit pants, lots of seersucker & gingham, appliqued shirts. Keds, Converse, Sperry, Toms. Boys' clothes can be SO CUTE!
ReplyDeleteIm so glad you posted about the baby gap clothes! I actually had ordered Cade a few pairs of the knit shorts a couple days ago...waiting for them to come in!! Glad to know you like how they old up. We have some older pairs that were given to us and they seemed to hold up well! We have the hardest time finding shorts that fit his waist and have the right length. All of our hammy down gap shorts are fabulous so im hoping these are just as good! I have not broken down and got him toms yet..we def do the sperry's though!
ReplyDeleteFound your blog through the Tichenor's! I am a a London, England mama and I am so glad I found your blog-we have one little girl (2) and a little boy (10m) so cute seeing your little guy, just a bit older, and love his outfits! I love cute preppy clothes for my little guy-since they can't have frills, patterns are always cute too.
ReplyDeleteGreat blog!
