They are here! Emerson's party pictures from Pink Owl Studios have arrived and I am elated! I can't thank Brittney {the fab photog} enough, seriously I didn't take one picture that day and she managed to document all of the little things that make a birthday special and more. For my first party post, I wanted to touch on the details! The fun odds, ends and pretty little things that made Emerson's special day absolutely wONEderful!! You're invited...
Our invitations were custom designed by none other than Dallas stationary extraordinaire, Loralee Lewis. I'm a lover of all things vintage and these sweet birthday bear invites were perfect for our little cub! A similar invitation can be found at Loralee Lewis Event Paper & Fine Stationary.
The party hat door hanger was made by yours truly (with help from the handy hubby of course)! I hand painted the sign that Derek cut from a thin sheet of plywood and made the pom pom from deco mesh. My mother was a big fan of this DIY project and thinks I should open a shop and sell signs (I also made Emerson's welcome home sign)... she is really my biggest cheerleader, but I don't know about a craft business at the moment, ha!
Our "Happy 1st Birthday Emerson" banner was also done by Loralee Lewis, I was so happy with how it came out I have kept the "Emerson" portion of the banner and am planning to hang it in his nursery. A special keepsake from his first birthday.
Loralee Lewis was also responsible for sweet little "wish" cards where guest would leave kind words for the birthday boy. Reading the loving sentiments left by our family and friends absolutely brought tears to my eyes, I will be putting them all in the birthday photo album for sure.
We had Emerson's newborn and Easter portraits on display {portraits by JillyBean Photography} in frames from Hobby Lobby.
The blue ruffle runner was custom made by Sweet Tea & Linen of Montgomery, Texas. I adore this runner and can't wait to use it again for bridal and babies showers for years to come. Truly a piece I will keep forever.
The popcorn boxes can also be found at Tom Kat Studios, along with the paper plates and napkins. The popcorn jars were purchased at HomeGoods and the serving scoops were from The Container Store.
The gorgeous cookies (that also happened to be beyond delicious) were from Jolie Delights. Ambre {The DeLongchamp Family blog} was incredible to work with. We doubled our order days before our party and she didn't even flinch. She is professional, client oriented and let's just be honest her cookies actually taste as amazing as they look... and that is SO rare!
The wooden cutlery was also from Tom Kat Studios. I placed the utensils in mason jars tied with a chevron ribbon from Hobby Lobby.
When
deciding on food for the party, Derek joked "Why not Chik-fil-a? It's
Emerson's favorite and it's his birthday" I laughed and thought it was the
perfect nod to our weekly Target + Chik-fil-a family outings. Silly,
cute and super yummy. Who doesn't love those nuggets?
Now I'm going to reveal to you a super secret. The fantastic, moist,
rich butter cream cupcakes from Emerson's party that we got a thousand compliments on were from a very
exclusive bakery. You actually need a membership to get in. You may
not have heard of the place, it's called Sam's Club...
Ha! I kid you not, their cupcakes are the BEST around. We hate the
bitter taste of fondant and we are not fond of colored icing, Sam's
cupcakes are unbelievably good. If you love butter cream, definitely
pick them up!
I am SO excited to share more of Emerson's party with you! Be sure to check back tomorrow for party pictures, family, friends and of course the birthday boy himself!!
