Live Forever

Since the tragedy in Newtown, CT occurred most everyone I know has felt a call to action. We all mourn for these families and want to offer support in some way or another. I came across this article by The Huffington Post and it suggests a multitude of outlets where donations can be made. In addition to a monetary contribution, the school is collecting letters, sympathy and Christmas cards and distributing to the families of the victims.

We wanted to include Emerson in the process of sending each family a Christmas card, so Derek and I thought that painted postcards would be the way to go. We dipped Emerson's tiny foot into paint and stamped it on our cards to make a "tree".

In addition, his little thumbs were used to make a "star" and "ornaments".

Lastly, we wrote a little note on each card. Here's one of them:

I really like how they turned out. Perfectly imperfect and completely individual, just like the children from Sandy Hook Elementary.
You can send your Christmas cards (letters or sympathy cards) here:

Sandy Hook Elementary School
12 Dickinson Drive
Sandy Hook, CT 06482

Regardless of what you are or are not able to donate or send, I'm positive that every prayer is appreciated. Despite their lives being so brief, these children will "live forever" in God's kingdom. Let them be a reminder to us, to cherish every day.
