Let it be known that my hair is super long, super thick and very heavy. Thus waves, curls and the like usually don't go well for me and end up falling the minute I step out the door. If you have uncooperative locks like me, then this "tutorial" is for you! All of you ladies with the gorgeous flowing manes that do whatever you ask... leave now and no one gets hurt! ;)
Step 1: Wash your hair with a curl enhancing shampoo/conditioner. I used Herbal Essences Totally Twisted because I didn't read the label at the grocery store when buying it and thought it smelled awesome. (Plus, I don't buy salon quality products for our guest bath and that's where this was going... don't judge, ha!)
Step 2: Use a super fancy blow drying technique I call "flip you hair upside down while using a round brush". The truth is out, I've got zero patience for a fancy DIY blow out unless I am going somewhere super important, like to get Mexican food... so just flip your hair over and dry until your hair is only slightly damp.
Step 3: Spray Not Your Mothers Beach Babe Texturizing Sea Salt Spray all throughout your hair. I use my fingers to comb through and distribute the product. Brace yourself, this stuff smells amaze. Seriously was tempted to use the whole bottle. That good.
Step 4: Part hair as you usually would and then divide into two "Pippy Long-stocking" braided pigtails.
HOT.
Step 5: Do your make up, get dressed, feed your baby breakfast, change his diaper, inhale your coffee... you know, the usual morning routine. Essentially, the longer you keep your hair in braids the more defined waves you will have. Patience young grasshopper.
Step 6: While your hair is still braided and mostly dry, give it a quick blast with the blow dryer just to really set the waves. Once your hair has completely cooled from the blow drying, take out the braids and using your fingers tousle the hair to separate/loosen the waves.
Step 7: Use your favorite shine spray because you probably have some fly aways. I use It's a 10 Miracle Shine Spray because it's very light and doesn't weigh my hair down or make it look greasy.
Step 8: Finish with a flex hold hair spray and say a prayer that it holds at least until lunch (may be that's just me...). I use Big Sexy Hair because I got it for free with Sephora beauty insider points back in the day and it does the job.
Step 9: Go about your day of errands and lunch and shopping and then realize you never took a picture of your hair for this post. Ask your husband to take the picture, then pick up your baby and let him join in because he makes it a thousand times cuter.
Happy hair day!!
