Month 5
Dear Emerson,
This month was without a doubt one of the most fun. You began sitting up for short periods of time at the beginning of the month and as the weeks progressed you perfected this new skill. You have started saying "Da-da-da-da" in addition to your usual happy mumblings. You do say "Ma-ma-maaaaa" but only when you are hungry or crying. It's sad to hear you cry, but sweet for you to call to me. When I answer your call you instantly smile and it melts my heart. You did indeed do a lot of crying this month. You began teething which was pretty miserable for us all but we discovered that a frozen banana and some gripe water usually helped to subside your pain pretty quickly. This month you really discovered your laugh. Your laugh is infectious as is your smile. We have tried to pinpoint just who you get your giggle from but have come to the decision that it is uniquely your own. We love to tickle you and your secret tickle spots are under your chin and your thighs. It will be fun to see if that changes as you get older. As you get older you have started sleeping much better. You usually sleep from 9pm to 6am. While this has been a blessing for your father, I still can't break myself of the habit of coming into the nursery to check on your almost hourly. I touch your back and feel you breathing. It comforts me to know you are sleeping so peacefully. Often, I wonder if your dreaming. I can't wait until you can share all of those sweet dreams with me. There is so much ahead of you my little prince!
Love,
Momma
