Feathering Our Nest

Over the weekend we began the process of feathering our nest. Deciding on a nursery theme was a no brainer for these Texans - a vintage cowboy design would be perfect for our little buckaroo!

After establishing a color palette and overall design concept, then began the installation of a cool accent wall that was sure to tie the whole nursery together.

Derek and Chief (as Emerson will call him; formerly known as Bob or Derek's dad) took apart old wooden pallets, sanded, coated and secured them to the wall with an industrial nail gun (we're all about safety for our little guy).

And I shouldn't fail to mention, the whole project only cost us two sheets of plywood, a few cans of polyurethane and some elbow grease!

The end result turned out to be more incredible than I could have imagined.

I can't thank Derek and his father enough for the amazing job they did, as I think we couldn't have asked for a more original, fun, barn-like accent wall for the room. Now we are even more eager to continue the process of feathering our nest!
