Symptoms:

Felt awesome this week. No complaints!

Sleep:

Sleep was much better this week. I actually made it through the night several evenings without having to get up.

Best moment this week:

Getting to check on Baby Sawyer. Always a blessing to hear his strong heartbeat!

Miss Anything?

With Mo Ranch this weekend, I miss wine! All of the ladies in my bible study group enjoy wine, and I know I will be jealous.

Movement:

Tons of kicks, plenty of movement in the night.

Food cravings:

Pimento cheese sandwiches.

Anything making you queasy or sick?

Nothing this week.

Have you started to show yet?

Yes!

Baby is a:

Boy

Belly Button in or out?

In. I would be surprised if it "popped out" because it stayed flush even at the end with Emerson.

Wedding rings on or off?

On. Stayed on the whole time with Emerson, so hopefully they will for baby 2 as well.

One word to describe this week:

Blessed. Ready to spend this weekend thanking God for all of our blessings, big and small.

Emerson's BIG brother status:

Emerson will be spending this weekend with his Daddy, so hopefully all goes well with their special guy time! I see lots of college football in their future!

Feeling great this week

Sleep:

Sleep is still interupted with frequent potty trips but I am learning to fall back asleep pretty quickly.

Best moment this week:

Getting some shopping done for Sawyer. Just odds and ends I was needing for nursing and pumping.

Miss Anything?

Emerson! Now that he is in school, I find myself missing him the entire time he is away.

Movement:

Tons of kicks, plenty of movement in the night.

Food cravings:

Bananas

Anything making you queasy or sick?

Not this week.

Yes!

Boy

Belly Button in or out?

In. I would be surprised if it "popped out" because it stayed flush even at the end with Emerson.

Wedding rings on or off?

On. Stayed on the whole time with Emerson, so hopefully they will for baby 2 as well.

One word to describe this week:

Renewed. I was beginning to worry that the nesting instinct was not kicking in for Sawyer, but this week while Emerson was in school I had the sudden urge to go through Emerson's hand-me-down's and make a checklist of what I need for Sawyer and managed to actually make it out to Buy Buy Baby to purchase some of those things!

Emerson's BIG brother status:

Emerson is still pointing to my tummy and we talk about his baby brother more and more. I'm so happy there are smaller children in his class, so he can "practice" sharing and being gentle.

Emerson's Fall Fashion Faves

 With a second little man on the way I have fully embraced shopping for all things boy! Honestly I have come to love dressing my tiny dude and in hopes of providing some wardrobe inspiration to other boy mama's out there, I thought I would share Emerson's wardrobe fall favorites!

A dark denim jacket, burgundy check button down and navy chinos all from Baby Gap combine traditional pieces layered in a practical way. Texas fall weather can truly be unpredictable and I love that the denim jacket can be thrown on with literally anything at a moments notice.

Emerson is ready for the pumpkin patch in this punchy Baby Gap outfit! An orange plaid button down with a royal blue "old man" cardigan and some vintage wash jeans keep this outfit casual and cool while staying warm and cozy. 

Colored denim is a fun fall trend for tots too! Baby Gap nailed it with these mustard jeans and I'm pairing them with a chambray button down and knit scarf from Haddon Co. (http://etsy.me/16yX90q)

Lastly, we picked up two pairs of shoes from Stride Rite. A sweet set of canvas tennis shoes by Tommy Hilfiger and a pair of perfectly preppy Sperry's. What I really adore about all of these looks is their ability to mix and match, layer and the minimal need for accessories which is key for toddler dressing... Keeping it simple! Slight nausea, but nothing major.

Still interupted with frequent bathroom trips.

Emerson did SO amazing starting school. So proud of him!

Not really

 Movement:

Coke-a-cola

 One word to describe this week:

Relief. I was so worried about Emerson having attachement issues with starting school, so having him adjust so well has been such a weight of my shoulders.

 Emerson's BIG brother status:

Emerson began school with a great attitude and truly has embraced this huge change. It give this momma to be a little glimmer of hope that he will also cope well with the change of becoming a big brother in a few more months.

School Daze Celebration

We did it! We made it through the first week of MDO and Emerson was amazing! I am so proud of him and his Daddy is too. We couldn't have asked for a happier, brighter and kind-hearted child than Emerson. He is going to be the best big brother and we are beyond blessed to have him for Sawyer to look up to one day! To celebrate our special little guy, we threw a little first week celebration!

 

His favorite toy in class is by far this school bus by Green Toys. I love that it's made from recycled milk jugs and of course it was perfectly fitting for our school themed celebration. I also picked up some Chick-fil-a nuggets because they are Emerson's absolute favorite!

 

And of course it's not a party until there are balloons right!?

 

As soon as we got home from school I let Emerson begin snacking on his nuggets and watch his favorite show, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse while I got set up and we waited for Daddy to get home.

 

 

Once Daddy arrived we let him open his school bus and we made chocolate chip cookies together. It was so simple and sweet and really made Emerson feel special. We hope he always knows how proud we are of him and every thing he does! Love you sweet boy!

Frequent trips to the potty!

 

Sleep:

Lot's of wake ups due to this weeks "symptoms"....

 

Best moment this week:

Enrolling Emerson in Mother's Day Out, it was bittersweet!

 

Miss Anything?

Being able to have as much coffee as I want. Limited caffiene is no fun.

 

Movement:

Tons of kicks, plenty of movement in the night.

Coffee

Anxious. With Emerson gearing up to start MDO, I have been a little uneasy. I just hope everything goes well not only for him, but for me!

 

Emerson's BIG brother status:

Emerson actually pointed to my tummy this week. We keep saying "Where's the baby?" and he used to point to himself, this week he pointed to the bump! Hilarious.

First Day of MDO 2013

Today I was having some major mommy butterflies as we prepared for our first day of MDO. I woke up incredibly early (7am is early for me!), packed Emerson's lunch, changing supplies and nap mat and then took a quiet moment to call Derek and just pray over our son. It was bittersweet and I was already a sobbing mess, I could tell Derek was concerned when he asked me to call him back after I dropped Emerson off, ha! Poor guy, the hormones of a pregnant wife and the heightened emotions of the first day of pre-school must have been a real joy for him beginning his work day!

 

All packed and ready!

 

 

I got Emerson dressed and fed and tried to keep things light, positive and happy. He was so excited which was so comforting. His smile is contagious so I couldn't help but to be happy for his special day ahead.

 

 

When I told him it was time to leave for school he literally ran to the door squealing. He was thrilled with the whole thing!

 

 

We arrived a bit early as I wanted to include plenty of buffer time should we have a melt down. What I didn't know is that the only one who would cry at drop off was me! Emerson waited at the door to his classroom's hallway and when they began letting us back towards his class he ran into the room laughing and grabbed the first truck he saw and began to play. His teacher gently took his things from me and smiled "He's going to have a great day, but I will text you if anything changes I promise." not sure if she could see the tears welling up in my eyes, I quickly drew my sunglasses from my purse and put them on as I thanked her and proceeded to the parking lot to bawl my eyes out. I called Derek sobbing "He didn't even hug me goodbye! He was happy! He didn't even cry! It happened so fast!" by now Derek is used to my roller coaster pregnancy emotions and tried his best to reason with me. Saying that it would have been harder had Emerson been upset and that this was a blessing. That Emerson was going to have a great day and that I was good mom and doing the right thing. Derek always knows what to say to ease my heart and as soon as I could muster, I put the keys in the ignition and left the parking lot of the school for the nearest Starbucks. After indulging in a grande mocha with whip cream I decided I wasn't ready to return home to an empty house and thought a little retail couldn't hurt so I ventured out to HomeGoods and Hobby Lobby for some fall decor and crafting supplies and before I knew it, it was time to go get my baby. Again, I arrived a little early just in case but he was just as happy and smiley as I left him. Both of his teachers remarked on how sweet he was and very social in addition to being a good eater. I was so thrilled to see him I think I could have squeezed him in two!

 

Thank to all of those who offered encouragement and prayer for Emerson on his first day, as it truly meant so much. I know for me, this transition will become easier with time, love and patience!
